Promise to Remember Me

The JDRF Promise to Remember Me Campaign asks Members of Congress to “promise to remember” those affected by diabetes when making decisions regarding federal policies that will speed our path to a cure for the disease. Families affected by diabetes meet with their Representatives and Senators during local town hall meetings, in local offices, and at events throughout the country.

Our entire family participated in two Promise meetings this year. One with Senator Debbie Stabenow and one with our Representative Vern Ehlers. Click on each of the pictures below to show both Senator Stabenow and Representative Ehlers that you support Ellie and her Advocacy Efforts.

What is an advocate?

JDRF advocates are moms, dads, siblings, friends, kids and adults, like you. Together, our advocates make up one of the most powerful and passionate groups of volunteers in history—raising awareness and support for vital issues that will advance research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. In the News...
On May 17, 2006, JDRF’s advocacy program was profiled on the front page of the New York Times. Among the many superlatives used to describe our program, the article said that “the foundation typically outperforms, in lobbying and fund-raising, nearly every other interest group built around a particular disease.” Read the article.

"Not since AIDS activists stormed scientific meetings in the 1980s has a patient group done more to set the agenda of medical research." — The Wall Street Journal on JDRF, March 31, 2004
